Say it With a Sock Subscription

Sock it to ya!- every month.

Ya know, people say a lot about their socks and socks sort of say a lot about people. Think about it- you wear socks most days of your life and they can reveal a lot about a person. Thick cozy socks say you want to keep your sand pounders warm, while funky colored socks say you want to spice up your sock game. Whatever the reason, socks are a fashion statement and the opportunities are endless.

So what makes a sock or a pair of socks stand out? Is it the material, the thickness, the trendy designs that one can sew into these ankle warmers? It might just be all of the above. For those wanting to spice up and mix up their sock game, the crew over at Say it with a Sock have all your toes covered. They specialize in offering a monthly subscription for sock lovers- with patterns, sayings, and combos galore.

Their crew kicked our crew a pair of their crew socks to try out. That’s a lot of crew. So which ones did our crew nab?

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

Here’s the scoop- the fun part with Say it with a Sock is that you don’t know exactly what you’re going to get. For our crew we initially received the bagged/packed up socks to test out. We ripped that bad boy open to find:

  • 2 pairs of watermelon socks

  • 2 pairs of space/stars theme socks

  • 2 pairs of freaking awesome striped socks

2 sets of 3 pairs of different variety socks, all neatly packed in a zipper like bag. What more could a guy want?

From the initial look and feel, the socks were smooth, soft, and sleek. The packaging was different and cool because of the “bag” package and the clear, fun, light descriptions of what just arrived at your door.

Our crew couldn’t wait to try them on so we ripped off our shoes, tore apart the socks we had on and fought over what pair we would try first. In this case- we all won (because they hooked us up!)

TRYING THEM OUT

The best way to review a pair of socks is to do the only logical thing with them- fill them with candy and have all the neighborhood kids try their best to rip them apart- last sock standing wins all the sugar. But, we don’t have any candy and we thought we could be more grown up about it for this review. So, we did the next best thing: we wore them!

Our crew took the 200 needle count socks (that’s a crap load of needles by the way) that was sent and tested them out. The reinforced heel and toe features a double knitting at the heel and toe so these socks can be worn in whatever environment you head into. Take this and the  high quality cotton (70% combed cotton to be exact) and 25% polyester (for the designs), and 5% spandex (for the flexing your toe muscles) and you have some legit AF socks. The material felt amazing on our feet and we swear our toes felt each needles prior work with every step. When we put on each pair, the socks slipped on smoothly and the band tightness around the calf area held up well-but didn’t feel like our legs were in a tourniquet. The socks gave us flexibility in how we wore them- hiked up to cover grandma’s knees- to scrunched down a bit to give our feet some space to breath. Both ways of wearing felt supported, soft, and breathable (yes that’s a thing). They looked and felt great...but how do they hold up?

“We dare your shoes to mess with them.”

Challenge accepted Say it, challenge accepted. Now the really fun part!

Our crew is somewhat a group of odd-balls. So we thought let’s run these socks through the gauntlet of “mess with it” tests.

Washing the socks 4 times in a row, then drying them on high each time

Still Soft

Wearing them all day, then NOT washing them and someone else wore them all day

Felt like we walked on clouds

Tied one end to a door knob then held the other end while we repeatedly slammed the door

Still stayed in tact

Wore them with dress shoes, running shoes, flip flops (seriously who does this) and loafers

Crushed life

As you can see- we are nuts for socks. And these socks are bananas for us. Add some ice cream and you have a Sock Sundae.

The overall test of Say it With a Sock bag o’ socks was nothing short of awesome. Great feel, texture, structure, and styles to choose from. Nicely done if we don’t say so ourselves.

One other cool feature is that with Say it With a Sock you can design socks and make custom socks for whatever you’re into. Like whatever you are into (you can keep that to yourself). Pretty cool feature.

BRAND INFO

Socks are not new to the market, but the passion behind a new brand that started just a few years ago is a refreshing find in of itself:

We founded Say it with a Sock in 2015 just in time for Valentine’s Day, as we figured getting monthly sock mail might be a better alternative to stuffed bears, heart-shaped boxes full of chocolate, and red roses. (We were right.) Before we made socks our full-time job, we both worked in tech and spent most of our time talking about them. We’re so fortunate that we turned our hobby into our livelihood!
