Now the fun part- Testing out the brands’ lineup of multitools. Our crew grabbed hold of the following items from each brand:

We tested each multitool like any normal human would- at work, to and fro, casual outings, and while out exploring the outdoors. We then rated each on the following:

THE OUTCOME

Tool Components

The Leatherman multitool features 14 tools included in its design. From pliers to wire cutters/strippers, various openers, screwdrivers and blades, this tool is packed with every item you need for fixing a loose screw, cutting some fishing line, and even small measurements with it’s 8 inch ruler.

The Gerber multitool features 12 tools in the design, and also includes pliers, wire cutters, bottle openers and screwdrivers. Minus the ruler like the Leatherman, it does though come with a saw and serrated edge knife.

Overall, Leatherman does have more tools in its comparison model to Gerber, the difference is not by much. Leatherman has the ruler, Gerber is without. However, Gerber features more “cutting” tools with the scissors, saw, and knife.

Both multitools feature a nylon based sheath for easy gripping and use and come with a lightweight carry when in tow. Butterfly opening for both multitools and each has the ability to clip on pocket or even a lanyard.
