5 Subscription Services that Aren't Crap
There are A LOT of subscription services out there these days. Yes of course there are the heavy hitting “streaming” subscriptions like Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, and the like. Yes, there are services like wine, grocery, and grooming services to keep your kitchen stocked and your beard game on lock. But did you know there are services like lawn care, pet care, and even sexual care…? Bottom line: there is a subscription for EVERYTHING these days.
So we tried a crap-ton of them and found some we actually like and stuck with after the free trial. We are not saying these 5 subscription services are the ONLY services out there you should sign up for- and we are definitely not saying if the service is not on this list that it by default IS crap. We are simply sharing 5 services we have personally tried and KEPT after a few months use because they were useful. So here is our list: subscribe to it- or not.
Dollar Shave Club
When our duuude founder first signed up for DSC (Dollar Shave Club) they offered 3 things: A razor, a handle, and more razors. Now they offer anything you put in or on your face (heck even your Nether-regions). While we won’t share with you WHAT is in our DSC box each month, we will share we love the flexibility, variety, and ease of use within the DSC platform. The razors are cheap AF but do not feel that way, and the ability to add or reduce your order anytime makes it perfect for your face/body/man-parts changing needs. The price point is legit and you get what you need without the high mark-up costs of other options.
THRIVE Market
How does saving money while also getting great products shipped to your door sound? Yeah- it sounds pretty legit. That is why we first tried THRIVE and then couldn’t stop after our first order. Thrive Market is on a mission to make healthy living accessible and affordable for everyone. Their online marketplace offers all the non-GMO, Organic, Gluten-Free, and Vegan foods and healthy products people love and their usually 25-50% below retail price. It is so easy-pick what you want and have it shipped right to your front door. We also love that for every paid membership, THRIVE provides a free membership to a low-income family, teacher, or veteran. For being a duuude reader you can score $22 in gifts from THRIVE for signing up!
Quip Toothbrush
We went ahead and bite the bullet and got the Quip electric toothbrush. For an initial $40 investment, you get the brush and brush heads. But after a few months use- the brush heads need a refresh. Enter Quip refill subscription. Why a subscription? Because you need a new head every three months and nobody has time to track that. Who remembers the date they last bought a brush head and who knows when they need to reorder one? Heck who even makes that a priority? With the $5 refill subscription you get a new brush head sent to your door and you can add toothpaste if you need a refill there too. Dental care is huge and Quip helps keep your pearly whites- well, white.
Blue Apron
Blue Apron is your go to home chef. Now, home cooking is accessible to everyone- even you. The integrated ecosystem of food, chefs, and home made goodness gives YOU a well blended mix of farmers and artisans who deliver high-quality products to “non-cookers” nationwide at compelling values. What we love most is in each box you get a home meal made by you but developed by a legit chef (sorry not sorry). It works like this- weekly boxes contain ingredients and suggested recipes that must be cooked by hand (yes your hands) using the pre-ordered ingredient list and instructions. What is legit is yo can make a meal with just what you need. No more buying $45 in herbs you use one time and throw away. This even saves you from buying the wrong meat, the bad apple, or the rotten egg. You get the point. Oh and being a duuude reader you can score $60 in savings.
Household on Amazon
Ok- here us out on this. While there is no “Household on Amazon” section, there is the IDEA on all your minds- who likes buying home air filters every month? Heck, who even remembers to do this? Who remembers to go out and purchase basic home essentials? Sure you go to Target for the soap but walk out with $400 of other crap you never needed and you forgot to grab the soap. So, it is our opinion that one of the best things we subscribed to in 2020 were a few re-occurring items on Amazon. Our office air-conditioner filters- auto delivery every 3 months. Paper towels for the break room? Done. Coffee for the crew? Bags for dayzzzz. Car air filters- yeah no thanks $40 price hike at the mechanic every oil change. The list goes on so we don’t have to get mad when we run out of something. Just think about it- its not crap and you know it.
