INITIAL IMPRESSION
Small but mighty, the out of the box impression was cautious optimism that a portable bonfire of this size would be able to crank out enough flame to not only light a small room but heat one up. The small tin can filled with wax was all that came to the party- and boy was it ready to throw down!
With the need for only a torch lighter, an outdoor spot, and a few crew members you can be ready for bonfire glory in just a few minutes. The bonfire is only 4” x 2” and can burn for 3-4 hours per tin can (that is quite a burn time for such a small can). The non-toxic recycled soy wax, is designed to reduce the smoky smell from normal fire pits and thus results in low soot. No embers and no mess.

The design and concept of the portable bonfire really hit our crew as an essential for the outdoorsman, camper, entertainer- heck even for the mood setter for date night. Our crew wanted to test the bonfire out in the great outdoors- because let’s be honest, what would be better than taking a portable bonfire like this for a weekend camping trip? We have been outdoors so many times, and felt like we needed a legit portable heat option for the table at night while playing cards, or setting up on the grounds where there is a lack of woods/other burn materials.
Our crew took the bonfire out and tested it per the instructions found on City Bonfires. Tossing the bonfire on a non-burnable surface, we lit the bonfire in a matter of seconds. Starting at the corner of each briquette (there are 4 of them by the way), we held the flame on it for around 30 seconds. That was it. Within just a couple of minutes we had a solid flame going. So how was it?
The Flame Size
Dang. This flame really kicked off some heat- no you couldn’t feel the flame if you were 100 feet away, but sitting close to it, you could for sure sense the heat. The flame kicked out a solid amount of flame (good for lighting) and heat. What else can we say- this thing was lit!
Burn Time
Just as promised- the flame lasted a solid 3 hours or more. In comparison to other bonfires, we found this was such a nice “set and forget” sort of vibe. No stoking the flame, adding more wood, or even changing a propane tank. Solid burn time and the flame strength held it’s ground during the burn time as well.
Cooking with It?
Many folks- including our crew, not only love a bonfire for the heat and vibe- but also to heat up food. For many, s’mores is a classic camping essential. We tried it out and after 20 minutes of burn time (per the recommendation of City Bonfires) we were roasted..our marshmallows that is. Yes, it does cook them up in a perfectly balanced way, and yes they are edible.
Overall
Overall, this bonfire it hot. Literally and metaphorically. It kicks out heat, is super lightweight and portable, easy to light (and easy to extinguish), and comes with the burn time you probably can’t find anywhere else. Perfect for those who enjoy a weekend under the stars, a camping trip, or want to kick it on the back patio and do not have or want to light up a major fire pit. All in all, this bonfire exceeded our expectations.

“Portable” doesn’t even begin to cover it- This little flame maker can fit in a backpack, on a floor board of your truck, heck it can even fit in a small go bag with ease.
Diversity of Use- Camping trip?- Bring it. Tailgating Party?- toss it in the back. Heading out on the back patio with some friends for a night of Cards Against Humanity?- Fire it up. No matter what or where, this can go with you and light things up a bit.
Burn for dayyzzzz- No joke. But not really days, more like hours. Which if you time it right can actually be possible.
No soot- no problem. Yeah, we ain’t about the soot. So leave that for other campers.

While at home, Chris (one of the founders) started teaching himself e-commerce and searching for cool product ideas.
