TESTING IT OUT
Now the fun part- Testing out the brands’ lineup of apparel. Our crew grabbed hold of:
CUTS Long Sleeve Henley
Crew Shirt with Elongated Hem
Hoodie
Crew Sweatshirt to review
BYLT’s Curved Hemmed T-Shirt (LUX)
Joggers
Shorts
Long Sleeve Henley
We wore each item like any normal human would- out to meetings, lunch, dinner, nights in and nights out on the town. We then rated each on the following:
The Fit
Comfort
Durability
…as a added element: the Grab Factor (which one we go for when choosing one when sitting side by side in the closet).
THE OUTCOME
The Fit
In a side by side comparison of the shirts- CUTS seems to have the most consistent fit throughout- meaning the waist, arms, and chest all size to to the right amount of fit around each section. BYLT has a bit more room in the arms, and would most likely be tailored for guys who hit the gym a bit more often. The length though seems to be a neck and neck tie as both brands have similar structure in hem lines.
While CUTS does not have bottom apparel like BYLT, it’s not fair to assess one vs the other. We will say the fit of the joggers and shorts were very consistent to our normal sizing- a medium is a true medium.
Overall, CUTS has a better fit for shirts, while BYLT seems to be a great fit for those wanting active bottoms such as shorts, joggers or other pants they offer.
The Edge: CUTS for tops, BYLT for bottoms
Comfort
Comfort is king, are we right? When trying on both brands, we would say the material used by both is really soft and flexible. CUTS offers one type of “material feel” you could say while BYLT hits ya with 6 different choices to choose from. CUTS shirts and hoodies really do feel buttery soft and they are super flexible, light, and breath really well. The feeling is like wearing a really lightweight shirt but it’s not flimsy.
With BYLT, we tested their LUX and BYLT Blend, and would say they the BYLT Blend is a bit heavier in weight and not as flexible feeling as CUTS. The LUX is really lightweight and feels more like a workout shirt than a dress up for a night out sort of shirt. While both were comfortable, we’d say they were a bit more restricting than CUTS.
The Edge: CUTS
Durability
For this portion of the review, we washed each item about 30 times and wore them each time out- to work, the gym, the office, even the couch. The cycle of wear, wash, wear, wash etc. really allowed us to see how they held up. BOTH Brands crushed it. Minimal if any fading, the retention of the tops/bottoms were in tact, and the fit was the exact same after all the washes. No stretched out necks, waists, or hem lines.
The Edge: Tie
Grab Factor
While we throughly enjoy both brands, the grab factor was hard to quantify. When we think of the shirt to “grab”, we go CUTS. However, when thinking of going on a run or hitting the gym it at times is a toss up between CUTS and the LUX Blend by BYLT. Clearly when it comes to bottoms, we go with BYLT- and not because CUTS doesn’t offer this lineup of apparel, but merely because the shorts are some of the most comfortable ones on the market. Period.
The Edge: CUTS for the tops, BYLT for the bottoms.
THE WINNER
This is tough- Considering all the features and options by both brands, we can honestly say the winner is not one over the other- rather it’s a winner of Apparel ITEM over the other.
CUTS: Winner of Shirt/Hoodies
BYLT: Winner of Shorts and Joggers
Both brands really do offer some great apparel for guys- and for being a duuude reader, we have exclusive deals and discounts for both brands if you wanted to try them for yourself.
