Why Freedom Fatigues Hats Are What We Need

Our crew loves wearing hats. In fact, we wear hats to work, running errands, heck we even have been caught waking up after a fun night with friends wearing a hat to bed (you don’t want to know the story). None the less, hats are a staple apparel item that every guy knows they need.
So what makes hats from Freedom Fatigues any different than a hat you can buy at any store (brick-n-motor or online)? Well, for starters Freedom Fatigues is a veteran/LEO owned and operated company located just outside of Detroit who is dedicated to producing unapologetically patriotic apparel and accessories. Built for and by those who make up the good ole USA, Freedom Fatigues shipped a stack of quality hats for us to review. Let’s put on thinking caps on shall we?
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
Right out the box- the Patriotism was oozing out like a can of shaken up soda. Kinda like this shirt:
Once we opened the box, our crew found an assortment of USA Flag hats- We received the Betsy Ross Flag Trucker Hat, Black on Black, OD Green & Black Range, Black MultiCam, Slate & White, Liberty or Death, and American Flag Leather. Each hat had it’s own unique color profile, look, and mood.
Each hat had its own style, montra, vibe if you will. Each hats colors, flags, sayings- all had a different level of diversity yet all balanced the same America vibes set out by Freedom Fatigues. The hat designs were very similar in structure, yet offered a variety of color combinations and styles. The stitching lines on each hat were well done, clean, and sturdy. The patchwork was clean, well secured, and good size in comparison to the hat/bill. The mesh backing was also clean and sharp- with contrasting colors to really help the hats stand out.
From initial pass as the hats overall aesthetics, color choices, stitch work, and backing/strap system we were impressed by the sheer amount of variety a hat could have surrounding the same theme: American Flags (really America if we are being frank). These hats sure made a solid first impression.

TESTING IT OUT
Now that we unboxed the legit lineup of hats by Freedom Fatigues, it is time to test them out!
FREEDOM FATIGUES HAT FEATURES:
Ball caps are structured with a medium profile
Pre-curved visor

No button to interfere with ear protection

Each hat offered by Freedom Fatigues has a similar structure (Ball Cap/Dad Hat often referred to as) yet has a Trucker Hat blend as well. The medium profile was a good fit for our crew who makes up a mix of average head size (so we are told) and hair length. If your head is bigger than average or your hair more so resembles Weird Al Yankovich, the medium construction may not work. The Pre-curved visor was well bent and did not fold too far down to restrict vision or natural light. One really standout aspect was the Velcro closure in the back- so many hats are click in or snapback, and these straps expand the perfect sizing options of the wearer.
After wearing the hat for a good duration of time- in a variety of settings, the moisture wicking sweatband was comfortable and did a solid job of holding in the sweat but not holding in so much it felt like a wet cloth wrapped around our domes. Some of the hats feature a no-button top, which adds another element of comfort if wearing out to the range, or repping some headphones while traveling. The comfort of the hat was there and it was easy to wear, lightweight, and fit the front, sides, and back of our domes well.
One aspect we wanted to see more of was a lineup of hats that featured more of a higher profile and flat bills to add a variety of hat fits/styles to expand to those who are into more square looks.
