A frill-free knife that performs.
Fair warning: if you’ve got swords, katanas and fancy Celtic knives mounted on your walls…this likely isn’t the knife for you. When LAPG was designing this blade it appears that they had very clear intentions: to manufacture a rock solid EDC knife that you’ll use on the daily.
TLDR; the LAPG TBFK S35VN folding knife lives up to its promises: smooth opening, tip-up carrying, cut-through-just-about-anything sharpness with its drop point blade. Read on for our deeper impressions of this black beauty.
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
The theme of this knife is apparent from the first time you hold it. There’s nothing bold or inherently remarkable about this knife. No flashy decals. No extraneous design details. Nothing remarkable. And that’s exactly why I love it.
This LAPG knife actually reminds me of a B-2 stealth bomber, that intentionally flying under the radar with very few angles and minimal detail. It does one thing and it does it well: slices up anything the blade touches. Flipping out the blade, you notice the slippery smooth movement thanks to the ball bearing opening mechanism. Perform a test cut and there’s no doubt about how capable the S35VN steel blade is (up to 4 times more durable than the more commonly used 440C and 154CM steel).

TESTING IT OUT

After about a week of carrying this knife daily, we’ve been thoroughly impressed with its performance. The blade has yet to find a material that it could slice through like butter: paper, cardboard, leather, nylon, a rubber bike tire and even some driftwood (who doesn’t love whittling).
The S35VN steel makes this blade extremely durable and resistant to chipping, and will hold an edge longer than the knives you’re used to. This special steel also makes this blade easier to polish and sharpen. Win-win.
Clip
You’ll never worry about the knife slipping out of place accidentally thanks to the supremely sturdy belt clip. While we didn’t test it, we’d be pretty confident you could clip this to a thin t-shirt and still not be able to knock it loose. This clip has serious grip.
Opening Mechanism
As hard as you’ll try, you won’t be able to resist the temptation of constantly flipping this knife open. The silky smooth ball bearing mechanism not only makes for ease-of-use but it also makes this knife quite a lot of fun to handle. The duuude crew found a preference for using the thumb stud rather than the flipper tab (but we know that is entirely subjective).
OVERALL IMPRESSIONS
The TBFK part of this knife’s name is quite fitting: "The Best F***ing Knife". LAPG appropriately bestowed this acronym to a deserving knife. To put it simply, the LAPG TBFK SV35VN is a tool that will do its job, day after day, for many years. With top-quality SV35N steel and precise manufacturing tolerances, you surely won’t be disappointed in this EDC knife.
