Linkind Smart Light Stick Review: The Porch Light That Runs Itself (and Fakes a Real Fire)
Sponsored: Linkind sent our crew these bulbs and paid for this review. The score and opinions are our crew’s own.
Why Your Porch Lights Should Run Themselves
Every house has that one guy who forgets to turn the porch light off until noon. The Linkind Smart Light Stick fixes that, and then shows off a little: it’s a regular E26 bulb that does normal white light, 16 million colors and a flame effect that actually looks like fire.
Our crew put it in our exterior lights, set it to run itself and let it do its thing. Let’s dig in.
Best for: porch lights that turn on at dusk and off at dawn by themselves
We liked: a flame effect that looks real, plus 120+ scenes
What Makes the Linkind Smart Light Stick Different?
One bulb that’s a porch light, a party light and a fake fire.
Flame effect you can tune: flame size, brightness, flicker speed and motion
120+ preset scenes plus 50 control zones for your own effects
850 lumens, the brightness of a standard 60W bulb, with white from 1000K to 6500K
Schedules that follow sunrise and sunset
Works with Alexa, Apple Home and Google Home through Matter, plus Linkind’s AiDot app
Standard E26 base, so it fits most porch lights, lamps and fixtures
The Flame Effect and Scenes
It actually looks like fire.
This is the feature that sells it. The flame moves and flickers instead of blinking on a loop, and our crew thought it looked real. There are a ton of ways to customize it, from a soft candle glow to a full bonfire, and the scenes go way past Halloween.
Game day: your team’s colors on the porch
Holidays: Christmas reds and greens, then back to plain white the next morning
Every other night: a warm, normal porch light
Set It and Forget It: Sunrise to Sunset
Lights that turn themselves on and off.
We set ours to follow sunrise and sunset, and that’s the part we’d buy it for. The lights come on at dusk and shut off in the morning without a plug-in timer or rewiring anything. It kept working while we were away, as long as the bulbs stayed on the Wi-Fi network.
Setup and Brightness
Easy setup: download the AiDot app and screw the bulb in. Syncing and renaming took a few minutes per bulb, and the app integrations were smooth.
Bright enough to replace a normal bulb: 850 lumens, a little more than most standard 60W-equivalent bulbs.
Wi-Fi notes: 2.4GHz only (not 5GHz), and it’s not for traditional dimmer switches.
What Could Be Better…
It needs the app, your phone and Wi-Fi to do the smart stuff. Our crew hasn’t had an internet outage yet, so we can’t say how the schedules handle one. If you want a bulb you never have to set up, this isn’t it. But the setup is a one-time thing.
Who It’s Best For
Guys who want porch lights that run on their own
Anyone who decorates for Halloween, Christmas or game days
Smart-home guys with Alexa, Apple Home or Google Home
Pros and Cons
PROS: a flame effect that looks real · sunrise-to-sunset scheduling · easy setup · bright 850 lumens · 120+ scenes · works while you’re away
CONS: needs an app, a phone and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi · no traditional dimmers
The Final Duuude Take!
The Linkind Smart Light Stick is a normal porch light that’s smarter than it needs to be, and that’s a good thing. Set it once and it handles dusk-to-dawn on its own, then throws a real-looking flame or your team’s colors when you want a show. The only thing between it and a perfect score is the app and Wi-Fi it needs to run.
