tinktube is something that one just has to try it/see it to really grasp what it is. François built a tinktube towel rack for his home, Gilles built a dog park for his 3 huskies, and Julian created a changing table when his daughters were born! The members of the tinktube team see opportunities for projects everywhere, because they know how amazing the system is! That really is the beauty of this DIY kit- endless opportunities to build some of the coolest stuff on plant earth.
Our crew wanted to get our hands on some of the materials from tinktube, and get creative to find out just how easy this system is to use, how creative we could get, and how the whole process works from start to finish. Not only did we enjoy the process, but we found new and cool ideas that we never knew were possible with just a few pipes, tools, and mental bandwidth! Lets get to tinkering!
INITIAL IMPRESSION
When we first jumped into tinktube, we didn’t really know where to begin. The website has plenty of project ideas, design concepts, and project kits to help you get started, but we were not sure on: do we go with a kit or make something random?
tinktube makes it easy really. They outline on the website how to get started: discover, shop inpiration/plans, or pick and choose the parts you need once you are an avid tinker-er’ (that is not a real word). Our crew decided to add to the office gym by grabbing the parts needed for the DIY Pull Up Bar, and the DIY Push Up Bar. The kits come with the plans to build, all the parts needed (so we didn’t have to decide what we needed), and was shipped out as a kit ready for assembly.
From the website layout, design inspiration, and guides to help you get started, tinktube has a really solid concept. It takes a moment to wrap your mind around the possibilities, mainly because the idea is to build and create as much as you can dream up with a few pipes and connectors. Once we decided upon our idea we were excited to get started, with no real idea what to expect.

TESTING IT OUT
Our crew went with 2 different plans to see how the process works. We grabbed the DIY kits for the Push Up Bars and the Pull Up Bar. We wanted to try out a full kit to see how the process works. What is neat about tinktube is there is no guessing what you need. With each order, it came with the parts list (add all right to your cart) and the plans to build (for FREE).
With a simple click on the “Add All Parts” button, we had the kit(s) shipped right to our door. When the kits arrived, the box contained the parts for assembly and the 2 longer pipes (for the 2 kits). We got one pipe in white and another in black.
***duuude tip- order the pipe cutter or nab one online. This makes cutting the pipe a breeze.
When our crew dove into the process, we noted the amount of parts and screws ready for assembly. The included plans showcase cut plans, what and how to assemble, and of course a diagram to follow on the final product.
We started to review the cut plans and we decided something on the fly: Lets ditch these plans and make our own pull up bar. Why? Oh, just because we wanted a more customize build for the gym we are designing in the office. Oh no? OHHHH YEEAAHHH….
See, that is the beauty we found with tinktube. We ordered one kit, but when it arrived and we started exploring the parts, we noticed we could get really creative and design a pull up bar and push up bar any way we wanted!
Within just a few minutes of cutting, we had our parts laid out and cut pipes the lengths needed for the build. We grabbed a drill and within just a few minutes we had a fully assembled pull up bar that was built into existing framing. We designed ours to have two middle handles for more flexibility over the pull ups we wanted to do.
The design allows us to know do wider pull ups and also dips as well as shorter length pull ups. The cuts were simple, the measuring was a breeze, and we even had some leftover parts to tinker with later for another idea(s).
