Made the Cut? Are CUTS Shirts Worth the Money?

New Cut Drops: HORIZON

You have plenty of brands to choose from when deciding upon your next shirt. You may be asking yourself- Are CUTS Clothing shirts REALLY worth it? Yes the shirts are a bit more costly than something you can find at major box retailers. Yes there are cheaper brands out there mimicking the look and styles of another. And YES CUTS Clothing shirts are some of the softest, most comfortable, most legit shirts you will ever wear. So are they worth it?

Great question. If you read our past review on CUTS you can see how much we loved the longer sleeve editions in their lineup. Now with summer upon us, and CUTS launching their new HORIZON line, we wanted to see if their upgraded version still brought the heat- and kept you cool while looking fresh. Our crew got a hold of some new shirts from CUTS Clothing and gave it another ultimate review, answering the very question: Are CUTS Shirts worth the money?

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

CUTS dropped this video showing their new line: HORIZON. Take a look.

Pretty dope. Pretty sleek. Pretty comfortable looking shirts if you ask our crew. The initial impression just by seeing the shirts in action are pretty solid. But looks can be deceiving. So we got our hands on the shirts to have a looksee ourselves. Our crew grabbed a few new cut styles:

The new release features premium high stretch PYCA tri-blended fabric. Designed to give a wrinkle-free, long-lasting comfortable shirt all the day long. Added color retention and buttery soft hand feel- these shirts sure are mighty nice.

Crew Curve Hem

The Crew Curve Hem are designed with a elevated regular bottom cut and curved hem to eliminate bunching around the waist. Perfect for the traditional fitting body. What’s that? Well- think about when wearing a standard shirt how that fits in terms of chest, arms, waist and length. These shirts mimic that layout- but are much more comfortable and lightweight.

Crew Elongated

The Crew Elongated Cut is designed with an extended elongated bottom hem that goes a little beyond the normal hem line of the classic crew. This Cut is fitted, tailored in the right places but not too slim. Runs true to size, but suggested to order a size up if in-between sizes. The torso is about 1.5” longer than the Curve-Hem fit.

Out of the box, the feel, weight, cuts, lengths, and color options are legit. The fabric feel is something worthy of an entire post itself and the thickness of the material is perfect. Initial pass at the shirts are exactly what we have come to expect.

Initial duuude impression: Good things are on the HORIZON.

TESTING IT OUT

Ahhh that new bag/shirt smell. The moment we opened up each bag containing the newest CUTS lineup we were in heaven.

Pulling each neatly folded shirt out of the bag was like being a kid again in Christmas. The feeling of the material in our hands was perfection. The smoothness, weight, collar and hem compositions was sleek AF. So you could see why we HAD to get into these shirts. Our crew hit 3 main areas for the test: The Fit, Wash, Cut and Look.

The Fit.

You may be asking how these fit? Good question- they fit like they were made for your body and nobody else’s. Our crew usually wears size medium shirts with our average height around 6 foot. Some like a bit of a loose fit where some like more fit around the arms but still loose around the waste. With duuudes averaging about 6 feet and waste size around a 32, the size medium shirts fit the best around the arms and was a bit more fitting throughout. Still plenty of drop in the cut and was not too tight on the waist. The next size up (Large) dropped a little lower on the waist but was only slightly looser on the chest and waist.

Overall the range of large to medium both were great fits. If you like a little more room than go up a size depending on what you wear regularly. If you want a longer drop in the cut a one size larger will be in point.

The Wash.

How do you wash these? With a washing machine…ok that was a joke.

But jokes aside the wash matters when looking at sizes and wear/tear on these. When CUTS tested the shirts before going to production they washed them 50+ times and the color and material stood up that the washing cycle. Our crew got our hands on these and washed them without following CUTS directions (sorry guys). We washed them and dried them in a dryer (vs laying out to air dry as recommended). The pre-shrunk fabric looked and felt the same as it did before we washed/dried. The color was still vibrant, the fit was still the same, and the material felt brand new. So- no matter how you wash or dry these, your shirt will be the same shirt the next time you rep it.

The Cut.

cuts style.png

Straight, curve hem, elongated- all are cuts that CUTS features. While some prefer the straight edge shirt cut, the new style is curved and elongated hem folks. With these two styles slightly similar you can’t go wrong with either one. The elongated sits just a little bit lower than the curve hem yet both offer the perfect scoop and swoop to the end of the shirt. Both really tend to look the same yet if you enjoy just a bit longer swoop in your shirts go with the elongated.

The Look.

Some may say this is the most vital part of the review. The look of the shirt is key to deciding what to go with.

The look is simply on point. It falls in the right places, is fitted where a shirt should be, and regardless of your fitness level (we mean if you have a chiseled ab/peck game or something that looks more round around the belly), these shirts look good. The length is perfect, the aesthetics of the shirt can go with jeans, work pants, shorts, heck even sweats. The all around look is elevated when you want it to be and casual comfortable as well.

STANDOUT FEATURES

These shirts make a statement. These shirts also have some standout features that our crew can’t say enough about:

  • The material is better than butter. It’s like if a smooth butter had a baby with a soft koala bear (minus the aggression)

  • The fit is on point. Not too tight yet not so loose it’s like wearing a poncho

  • Color and construction hold up no matter what you do in them- or how you clean up after

  • The range of cuts, colors, hems, and styles give you an all out shirt arsenal for any moment

  • Best bang for your buck for shirts of this quality

BONUS FEATURES

As if the amazing quality, look, and cuts offered by CUTS was not enough, they offer some pretty dope bonus features to their lineup.

cuts clothing new styles

CUTS offers a new lineup of colors, fabric upgrades, and looks. Looks like their Polos, Henley Cut short and long sleeve shirts, and their new range of color options for the summer.

Another killer feature is the free return and exchange program that gives you the freedom to mix up what you need when you need it- ordered a size too small? Send back and get the right fit at the right time.
