Shady Rays for Sunny Days
The sun is coming out and so too are your eyeballs- might as well protect them while looking cool. It’s no question a great pair of shades is a must have any summer for any duuude. Our crew recently felt the pain of a broken pair of cheap $15 sunglasses while at a family picnic. It sucked. Halfway through and boom- no more shades. So we decided it was time to upgrade our shade game while not breaking the bank- enter Shady Rays.

Our crew grabbed a pair of Shady Rays and took to the outdoors to see how these stood the test of hot days and long nights. If only we had them at the picnic.
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
Our first impression started when we spent time on their website ordering our new shades. Easy to use, simple to see what color frames and lenses, and pricing right in front of our eyeballs. This is the way to shop for shades. Once we found our pair we checked out and enjoyed the fast payment process and order updates. No guessing game on when our order would arrive- with on point shipping updates and fast delivery we had our shades in no time.
Once our shades arrived the out of the box experience was on point. The sticker, soft carry sleeve, and the info card sharing the deets of our shades- we dug every part of it. The sunglasses felt lightweight in our hands, were smooth and easy to open/close the arms when ready to wear. The frame color we went with was Amber Woods, and the coloring was just as the website showcased. The overall feel, weight, texture, coloring, and value from the $48 shades was solid.

TESTING SHADES OUT

So once we ordered from their shop we went into our “shop” to test them out. Our shop really isn’t a shop per se, it’s more of real life elements to see just how these shades hold up- with many of us doing the same basic functions with glasses, we thought we’d test them out while: driving, playing outdoors, and overall life-proofness.
Driving
The shades offer some of the most crisp driving vision we have found with sunglasses. The polarized lenses really do cut the glare and reduce the distractions of other colors the lenses filter out. Lightweight and wide field of vision, the stop lights, brightness of the sun, and changes in glare from other cars and road hazards, the shades help up quite nice.
Overall driving experience: 9/10
Playing Outdoors
Our crew likes to hit the open trails, roads, local spots, you name it- we are there. So we need shades that can hang with us. We took these out to a small gathering and while going in and outdoors, sunny spots to shady- we found ourselves wearing the glasses non-stop. Even while exploring some hiking paths and testing them out by the pool- these shades handled the heat, the various sun levels and cloud cover, and remained fully in place on our heads no matter what we were doing.
Overall playing outdoor experience: 10/10
Life-Proofness
What the flip is life-proofness? Remember us saying we broke another pair at a picnic? Yeah- we kinda beat the crap out of our shades. From tossing into the car, accidentally dropping our laptop bag on these shades in the car, and even wearing around our shirt collar when we went in for a mondo hug with grandma and feeling them compress between our chests- these shades didn’t disappoint. Life is going to happen and you don’t want some flimsy frames or lenses that can’t take your shenanigans.
