INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

Since both brands offer a wide selection of items, fits, and colors we decided it best to highlight a few of the most popular item features on each site- broken down by brand key apparel items. For sake of this review- we will stick to revieiwng their lineup of Tee’s!

True Classic:

True Classic offers the perfect balance between comfort and style for any man. Their claim to fame is that perfect shirt that looks good on any body style. With a huge selection of shirts, you can easily find something to suit your individual look - all made with premium materials that'll stand up over time. Look great while feeling confident; True Classic has it covered! When we first took a peek at the True Classic Tees, we were drawn to the overall concept of their fit vs other shirts. Some shirts as we know can be boxy, bulky, and blah looking when you put them on. That is not the True Classic way.

TESTING IT OUT

Now the fun part- Testing out the brands’ lineup of apparel. Our crew grabbed hold of:

  1. CUTS Long Sleeve Henley

  2. Crew Shirt with Elongated Hem

  1. Crew Shirt 3-Pack

  2. Long Sleeve Crew-Neck

We wore each item like any normal human would- out to meetings, lunch, dinner, nights in and nights out on the town. We dressed them up to see if they looked good in dressier settings and also wore them as just plain ole’ shirts around the office. We then rated each on the following:

  • The Fit

  • Comfort

  • Durability

…as a added element: the Grab Factor (which one we go for when choosing one when sitting side by side in the closet).

THE OUTCOME

  • The Fit

In a side by side comparison of the shirts- CUTS seems to have the most consistent fit throughout- meaning the waist, arms, and chest all size to to the right amount of fit around each section. True Classic has a bit more of a lighter feel and fit, and would most likely be tailored for guys who hit the gym a bit more often as some of the shirts showcase more on certain body areas. The length though seems to be a neck and neck tie as both brands have similar structure in hem lines.

While CUTS has a bit thicker of a material the fit is very similar overall. Good cut lines around the neck, soft feel while wearing, and the hem lines are very crisp.

Overall, CUTS has a better fit for shirts, while True Classic seems to be a great fit for those wanting a bit lighter fit when wearing them. The hem lines too vary as True Classic fit is more classic vs CUTS elongated and scoop cut lines.

The Edge: CUTS

  • Comfort

Comfort is king, are we right? When trying on both brands, we would say the material used by both is really soft and breathable. CUTS offers one type of “material feel” you could say while True Classics hits ya with a few different material feels which do change up the comfort. CUTS shirts really do feel buttery soft and they are super flexible, light, and breath really well. The feeling is like wearing a really lightweight shirt but it’s not flimsy.

With True Classics, we tested their Activewear material and traditional cotton Blend, and would say they the Activewear Blend is a bit lighter and more breathable in weight and really flexible and comfortable. The Activewear is really lightweight and feels more like a workout shirt than a dress up for a night out sort of shirt.

The Edge: True Classic for lightweight activewear shirt

  • Durability

For this portion of the review, we washed each item about 30 times and wore them each time out- to work, the gym, the office, even the couch. The cycle of wear, wash, wear, wash etc. really allowed us to see how they held up. BOTH Brands crushed it. Minimal if any fading, the retention of the tops were in tact, and the fit was the exact same after all the washes. No stretched out necks, waists, or hem lines.

The Edge: Tie

  • Grab Factor

While we throughly enjoy both brands, the grab factor was hard to quantify. When we think of the shirt to “grab”, we go CUTS for a nicer night out look. However, when thinking of going on a run or hitting the gym we have to go with True Classic.

The Edge: CUTS for the elevated night out, True Classic for the day to day wear shirt.

THE WINNER

This is tough- Considering all the features and options by both brands, we can honestly say the winner is not one over the other- rather it’s a winner of Apparel ITEM over the other.

CUTS: Winner of Elevated Style

True Classic Tees: Winner of Day-to-Day Shirts

Both brands really do offer some great apparel for guys- and for being a duuude reader, we have exclusive deals and discounts for both brands if you wanted to try them for yourself.
