SkyOutfitters Review: Top Notch Socks
SkyOutfitters: Top Notch Socks
Guys- socks are mandatory. Don’t let the trendy office guy who wears no socks with his designer shoes fool you into thinking it’s ok- you MUST wear socks. With so many varieties of socks from no-shows, ankle, knee highs (are those even around anymore), dress, and funky, there is no reason you can not find a pair of socks to fit any vibe, wardrobe, or fashion trend.
Our duuude crew loves socks and wanted to take a dive into a fresh pair from our friends over at Sky Outfitters (formally Sky Footwear) to see if they take us to the moon and back (sorry lame joke). We grabbed a hold of a few pairs and have it the ultimate test: we wore them….with shoes.
SKY OUTFITTERS SOCKS
To kick us off we wanted to first outline what Sky Outfitters offers in the sock game. For those curious kats, they offer more than just socks! We will get to that later- but for now, this is what they have to keep your feet warm:
Solo Pairs-
Sky Outfitters offers solo pair socks starting at $10 a pair. The pair styles range from Dress, Casual, Low-cut, or Sock Packs. If you are having trouble picking, you can head over to their Best Sellers tab and find out what other sock-goer’s are wearing.
Subscription services:
Sky Outfitters offers subscription sock services as well for those who want more than just a one time grab. The “Sky Club” is a monthly subscription service that delivers socks straight to you (or your friends) door each month! Starting at $12/month, you can choose your plan, choose your style, and have socks sent right to your door. For each sock you get, Sky donates a pair each month on your behalf. That’s pretty cool.
TRYING SKY “ON”- OR OUT-
For the review- we tested out 3 pairs of Sky’s socks in different styles:
‘Merica Crew
Shades of Gray
Old Port
We wanted to review these socks in an equal way to each other so we wore each pair in the same shoes for over 8 hours each day. Not just 8 hours sitting on the couch- we walked here and there and basically EVERYWHERE you can go in socks. We washed them, dried them, wore them again- heck we even climbed the Rocky’s in them (full disclosure the Rocky’s is just the name of the office staircase). We digress…
INITIAL IMPRESSIONS
From the minute we opened the box of all 3 socks we noticed the attention to detail Sky Outfitters puts in each pair. The packaging, the personal note they wrote, and the socks themselves all screamed value. We opened each pair and wore them right out of the box.
‘Merica: These crew socks are made from premium thick cotton and feature an elastic mid-foot ribbing for a great grip on your ankle/leg. The ribbed cuffs also offered a great hold and fit form to our feet. We noticed the Sky logo stitched into the sock right away and felt like it was well placed. These socks are 80% cotton, 18% polyester, 1% spandex, and 1% rubber.
Shades of Gray: The slimmest feeling pair of the trio we tried, the shades of Gray socks are both thin and breathable. The ribbed cuffs again offer a stable fit on the foot and are perfectly positioned for a tight but not “cut off circulation” fit. These socks also have the Sky logo and are composed of 65% cotton, 25% polyester, and 10% spandex.
Old Port Crew: While labeled a crew, this pair is nowhere near a thick crew you are used to in this style sock. The premium cotton material and ribbed cuffs give the stability like the other pairs, but are slightly thicker than Shades of Gray but less than ‘Merica. They are spot on the right fit for any style of dress. These have the logo as well and are made from 75% cotton, 20% polyester, and 5% spandex.
The 3 pairs of socks were all different in feel, texture, material make-up, and look/style. Each offered a different way to dress up or down depending on what you’ve got going on. If these 3 socks were the first of 3 in the monthly box, you'd have all outing’s covered in both style and fit.
STANDOUT FEATURES
The Sky Outfitters line of socks are a great line of products. We have tried several socks over the years and these by far have some standout features that grabbed our attention:
The fit is simply on point: No slipping throughout the day, but not too tight to where you get those crazy deep lines on your legs and ankles from a day’s wear.
The logo initially worried us because it can be felt on the sock. However, once on the foot, it is as if it’s not even there.
The socks hold up well after washed. Too many times socks feel great, then one run in the dryer and they are done-zo. Not here.
The variety is great. No need to look elsewhere- they have it all, in all sizes, and in all the colors/designs you would need.
The mission is on point: Buy a pair- give a pair. It’s a great concept and we are all about supporting brands who do more than just make a sell.
Sky Outfitters has done a great job in constructing a perfect pair of feet huggers.
