We Tried ChatGPT and The Results Were Shocking: Review

Is this the next Google Killer?

A rather popular topic these days is anything AI (Artificial Intelligence) related. You have probably seen everyone make their own AI Avatars, people bragging about using AI to write books in a day, even bloggers and students are turning to AI to crank out content- all of these are for sure gaining popularity. One of the hottest AI conversation topics though hands down has to go to ChatGPT- The AI tool that some say could be the next Google killer. But what exactly is ChatGPT and why is it making waves in the tech world?

ChatGPT: Optimizing
Language Models
for Dialogue

In short- ChatGPT is a model created by openai.com that is trained to interact with you, the user, in a conversational way. You as the user jump on the website, sign up, and start a dialogue with their AI chat interface. The dialogue format then turns any inquiry, such as: “How do I make eggs” into a well versed, in depth, and legit to answer. This technology is so advanced it even answers followup questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and rejects inappropriate requests. ChatGPT is a sibling model to InstructGPT, which is trained to follow an instruction in a prompt and provide a detailed response. In short, ChatGPT is an instant answer to any question, written by AI with endless possibilities. Scary possibilities. Why Google and search the best anwer, why hit up Reddit and ask opionons, why even go to websites like ours to find reviews anymore? We were asking the same questions, so we dove into the platform to see what it was like- what we found was scary, but also cool AF.

INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

When we first started hearing about ChatGPT we were confused- like what does it actually do? Glad we dove into it more to find out the platform’s intent (keyword here is intent). Modeled as a go-to for ALL things asked, the platform is really simple yet one powerful source of information: Instant, information. We landed on openai.com, signed up for a free account, and instantly were taken to a simple platform/interface. The ChatGPT interface is rather simple to use- with no fluff or complicated steps. What makes it so unique is there is no search queries for a pool of answers- its just one answer to your question.

As one can see, it gives you some examples, capabilities, and even limitations- because even AI has it’s limitations. The interface saves chats you start so you can access them later, tells you upfront that it uses the data you enter to generate even more responses, and is rather easy to use. Almost too easy?

Once our crew got in the account, we started with one of the most popular searches on Reddit for guys this year- “What is the best outfit for men to wear out to dinner? Here is a screen-grab of that actual question in our chat:

As you can see, the response is not only well laid out, but it is thorough, well constructed, gramatically in-tact, and even writes itself as a blog post format. Kinda eerie to think it can be this good.

Our initial duuude impression: Is this the start of something mind-blowing?

TESTING IT OUT

Our crew continued exploring the ChatGPT interface and capabilities- we typed in this next question that we are sure is on everyone’s mind since more news dropped in 2022 on the potential assassination cover-up of JFK. Here was our interaction:

As you can see, the AI is so good it gave us legit historical information (facts about Oswald’s death, dates, and timelines), then even added some conspiracy debunks in the 2nd paragraph. Lastly, it then drops some speculative answers about theories floating around. What makes this so interesting is it gives you a sense of all sorts of human emotions, responses, and even thoughts one might be looking for.

We then dropped a random question after that, about good date night ideas (truth be told we needed some ideas for the weekend). Here was not only a great list of ideas, but even guidance on how to execute the plan.

There were 10 ideas based off our one question that again is like a blog writer posted this on their niche website. It was thorough and also insightful. The format was solid, the grammar again on point, and it was written almost like a guidebook would write.

STANDOUT FEATURES

While AI has some ways to go (it can’t build you a house-yet, it can’t generate information that does not exist, and while these responses were great it doesn’t give you imagery to go with it- it still is scary to think how good it is. If we were to drop text from what the AI generated, we are not sure one would know. In fact- who knows if this post is not just AI writing it all out for us….Bottom line is this could be the next Google killer in search and response queries. But can it and will it replace all forms of writing? Blogging? Men’s review sites like ours? Who knows, but we will be watching to find out.

Oh, and one more ask:

Well, not the best but also not the worse response one could get. We will have to check in on that later.

BOTTOM LINE

As we head into 2023 with more and more AI generators out there, we have to pause and ask what does the future hold for our world that for so. long has relied on real human voices. Will we resort to turning in school papers all made with AI? Will we no longer ask our buddies what to do this weekend and instead have AI tell us? Will we no longer need news outlets to tell us about current events? What if in the near future we no longer need, well humans, to speak to and soley go with AI? Is that where we are headed?

With a interface like openai.com, the possibilities could be endless.
