How to Pack a Cooler The Right Way

Baby, it’s cold inside.

HOW TO PACK A COOLER.png

We have all been prepping for a trip and when it comes time to load up the cooler- we end up stuffing that thing like a thanksgiving turkey. Leave the stuffing to the bird’s behind and follow our 2 minute read for this simple cooler packing hack in our How to Pack a Cooler The Right Way.

WHAT YA NEED:

-Cooler (kinda assumed you’d have this)

-Ice Packs (we like these)

-Ice

-Perishables for the cooler (ya know, the essentials)

INSTRUCTIONS:

Step 1: Open up the cooler and toss in some ice at least 8 hours before the trip.

Step 2: Toss out that ice and use the now pre-chilled cooler for packing.

Step 3: Lay Thin Ice Tray’s/sheets (thinly) on the bottom of the Ice Chest

Step 4: Pour a layer of ice on top of the layer of ice trays

Step 5: Use one side of ice chest for food/re-packaged food and pack around like Tetris

Step 6: Use other side for drinks and stack upright as close to each other as possible

Step 7: Lay another layer of ice on the top, being sure it falls in and fills open spaces.

Step 8: Any extra thin ice tray sheets, place on top of ice.

Step 9: Shut lid, and head out!

duuude TIP:

If you don’t have thin ice tray sheets, still use the bottom as a base layer and add a little more ice. Once you start taking items out of the cooler, simply re-wedge items back into place as you need. Do not use packaging that is not water-proof or at least resistant as you don’t want soggy food contaminating the ice.
